The Youth Café is pleased to welcome John Otieno Owuor as a new member of the Advisory board of Directors.

Mr Owuor is a business development and financial analyst with more than ten years of management experience in retail banking, microfinance banking, and investment cooperatives.

He graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and did his Master of Business Administration at Egerton University. Mr Owuor has also acquired a Certificate in Transformative Leadership from Daystar University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the Kenya Institute of Management.

Mr Owuor is presently working as the Business Development Manager at Safaricom Investment Cooperative, where he is responsible for driving the organisation's investment diversification.

Among his many accomplishments, he has established high-performing teams, launched two new bank branches, and increased their assets and liabilities to enable both to attain profitability within the first year of operation. Furthermore, he recently designed and managed a Kshs 4B joint venture investment, effectively integrating infrastructure, sales, and marketing to help reach revenue targets. As acting CEO of Safaricom Investment Cooperative, he led the company from a loss position to profitability in 2020 with 220% growth and 300% income growth in the first quarter of 2021.

Mr  Owuor is on the boards of various institutions. He is the Vice-chair of the Ukwala Boys Alumni Association. He is also the treasurer of Uriri Cooperative Society and a board member of Nduru Secondary School.

As a member of the Advisory Board of Directors, Mr Owuor will use his expertise in policy formulation and management, investments and financial analysis, as well as marketing and public relations, to assist the Youth Café in improving its governance structures and partnership management. 

Mr Owuor is excited about the opportunity to work with brilliant and creative teams at the Youth Café. Being a product of youth mentorship, he has developed a great passion for serving and mentoring youth.
