CAREER HISTORY
Malika is an enthusiastic, result-driven professional adept in communication, data collection, analysis, and reporting. She is a strong believer in the need for a diverse range of aptitudes in the interconnected world we live in today. In her capacity as the Communications, Advocacy and Digital Engagement Associate at The Youth Café, she supports project planning, implementation, and research as well as devises effective communication and outreach strategies to promote youth empowerment in the eight focus areas identified by TYCs strategy. Additionally, she cultivates relationships with local and international stakeholders such as LEAP Africa, YALI, USAID, UNESCO, and Google to ensure progress through meaningful collaboration on various organisational projects.
Malika is deeply involved in a number of projects at The Youth Café involving different consortia of The Youth Café partners, mostly aiming to empower young people and youth organisations to strengthen national and global development solutions. She was also nominated as a member of the Global Youth Advisory Council for Youth Excel, through which she provides insight into strategic and tactical project decisions as well as gives input on regional grant competitions, grantee selection and project buy-ins. Furthermore, as part of the implementation research team, Malika assessed East African policies and helped formulate evidence-based plans to elevate youth research, learning and policy development.
With a working knowledge of six languages, Malika brings a unique perspective to the team. Born and raised in Tanzania, she is a strong believer in the need for a more inclusive, youth-led approach to global issues. Over the past five years Malika has volunteered with various local as well as international NGOs. She aspires to hone her skills and passion to help build a better world; one where everyone is given equal opportunities regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, or social status.
