The Shamiri Program - Fellows' Application Form
The Youth Cafe in partnership with Shamiri Institute are seeking an energetic and self-motivated team player to join our class of Fellows at The Youth Cafe for the Shamiri Program.
The Shamiri Program is a mental healthcare intervention program that seeks to provide affordable and accessible mental health services to underserved youth by developing their character strengths to reduce mental health problems and improve overall wellbeing and functioning.
Fellows are recent high-school graduates trained to deliver the Shamiri intervention as part of the Shamiri Program. Fellows do not have prior formal health training. They receive ten hours of training and weekly supervision. They lead group-based intervention sessions within the schools. Prior research has shown that Fellows are effective—thorough, skill-full, clear, and adherent to protocol—at delivering the Shamiri intervention.
Note: This program will be implemented in Murang'a County, Kandara sub-county, so we recommend applicants from Muranga County, preferably Kandara subcounty to apply.
