Unleashing the Power of African Youth: The Youth Cafe (TYC) Innovation Accelerator Program.
Africa stands at a critical juncture, with a young and vibrant population that possesses immense potential to steer the continent towards a prosperous future. However, for this potential to be fully harnessed, it is vital to empower Africa's youth with the necessary skills, resources, and opportunities. The Youth Cafe (TYC) Innovation Accelerator program is a groundbreaking initiative that can unlock the entrepreneurial spirit and innovation potential of African youth, propelling them towards personal and societal success.
● Building on TYC's legacy of innovation, the TYC Innovation Accelerator was launched in 2020 to pilot new solutions and scale promising innovations to disrupt hunger. This program sources, supports, and scales high-impact innovations to achieve youth empowerment. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, we provide TYC employees, entrepreneurs, and startups with funding, hands-on support, and access to TYC's regional operations. Through the Accelerator, TYC is leveraging unprecedented advances in digital innovation—such as mobile technology, artificial intelligence, big data, and blockchain—and new business models to transform how we serve vulnerable communities across Africa.
● The Africa Youth Summit (AYS) conference, organized entirely by young people, is the first-ever youth-led and hosted conference and the first collegiate pan-African youth Conference hosted by The Youth Cafe on the African Continent. Africa Youth Summit operates under the umbrella organization of The Youth Cafe, External Relations department, as one of the signature events. AYS is distinctive in its efforts through its commitment to awarding as much financial aid as possible to youth delegates. These efforts are to ensure our conference is the most accessible.
●The dynamic and fully immersive AYS experience encourages our delegates to tackle and negotiate all-encompassing solutions for Africa's most complex problems. We aim for all voices to be heard and encourage participants to discuss, engage with, and craft solutions to Africa’s most pressing issues of the 21st century. AYS is a kind opportunity for students on the continent and across the diaspora to engage in Pan-African dialogue and gain access to world-class workshops, speakers, and sponsors.
●Through a series of presentations from curated speakers and pan-African leaders, youth-inspired moderated debates, and leadership development workshops and training, AYS empowers participants to find their voices, enrich their lived experiences, and acquire the tools and skillset to excel during the conference and beyond.
AYS, our inaugural conference, was held on 13-15, 2022, in Nairobi, Kenya. AYS welcomed 125 youth delegates and over a dozen guest speakers with experience in medical technology and international diplomacy.
The success of the conference was made possible due to the incredible work of last year’s secretariat, our partnership with like-minded organizations, the generous support of our partners, and the many guest speakers who came to participate in the various personal development workshops, career fair assignments, and formal speaking engagements conducted throughout the conference. Our testimonial page also highlights the many successes of the conferences. UNESCO Media awards, DIAR Awards among others
