The Intersectional Rapid Gender Analysis will support the Kisumu ICON programming by identifying and later meeting the differing needs of the capacities of women, men, boys, and girls in Kisumu county. This was the first IRGA and was conducted by The Youth Cafe in a month. Based on the recommendations from the Youth Excel global GESI report and key literature from the field of Rapid Gender Analysis, we will be exploring five areas of interest; enabling environment, gender roles, responsibilities, and time use, contribution and agency, assets and resources, and protection.

Currently, women and girls still face discrimination despite Kenya’s progressive policy frameworks though the country is slowly shifting towards total integration of gender roles which is reflected in women’s education, professional achievement, and family income contributions. The goal of the Youth Excel positive youth development is to promote positive outcomes for young people by providing opportunities, fostering positive relationships, and furnishing the support needed to build on their leadership strength.
