The Kenya Youth Manifesto 2022 | Youth Jury Validation.
In collaboration with International Republican Institute, The Youth Café is working to have the drafted Kenya Youth Manifesto 2022 validated by a selected youth jury. The legitimacy of the youth jury process and the validity of its recommendations is critically contingent upon the extent to which youth jurors are representative of the broader community, as the purpose of the youth jury is to discuss issues of cultural diversity from the perspective of young people. The salient demographic features are the applicants' lineage, educational background, gender, and socio-economic status.
This Kenya's first event, only for the youth, is tentatively on the 21st of April 2022. The Kenya Youth Manifesto Youth Jury is a new project organized and run by young people. It's not a criminal jury, as there are no lawyers or judges. The findings of the Youth Jury are entirely decided by the young people who are in it. The Youth Jurors look at information, ask questions to expert witnesses, and talk to each other about what they've heard. By sharing their views and resolving differences, the Youth Jury will create a Report that all Jurors are willing to support.
The youth jury validation process's main agenda is to validate the recommendations on the Kenya Youth Manifesto 2022 by involving participants in group deliberations. Participants in their groups will be expected to analyze and critique the manifesto while giving suggested modifications and recommendations on what should be added and what to be excluded from the manifesto. Participants will also give their views and opinions based on personal experience and reading background briefs.
The Youth Café works with young men and women around Africa as a trailblazer in advancing youth-led approaches toward achieving sustainable development, social equity, innovative solutions, community resilience, and transformative change.
