The Youth Cafe in partnership with AIESEC is organizing a youth month; the largest youth-centered event in Kenya. Youth Month is an annual event organized by AIESEC in Kenya founded in 2022, where the Country Managers, members, and youths in general from all over the country meet to build new projects, network, learn new skills, ensuring we solve the problems youths in the country face.
This Assembly is in line with The Youth Cafe’s work on governance and political inclusion (accountability), intending to increase advocacy for political stability and effective management to ensure there is a transparent, democratic, and accountable environment by; creating an enabling environment for active participation and meaningful engagement of the young people and encourage the exercising of their civic rights and responsibilities in the society to ensure transparency and accountability; increasing partnership with young people as leaders and experts at all stages of policy-making, including the follow-up and review of policy implementation to ensure accountability.
The Youth Cafe has seen an extraordinary period of growth, learning, and innovation, particularly in the critical areas of anti-corruption and good governance. Since our finding, we have witnessed a growing recognition of the pivotal role that youth play in driving accountability, transparency, and governance reforms across Africa. By nature, politics sows seeds of division as contestants take sides and engage in mudslinging. Ultimately, this increases stress levels. However, the youth in Kenya can be proactive in handling election stress disorder ESD, and several psychologists have suggested practical ways of doing so.
On the 24th of May, 2022 we convened at Villa Rosa Kempinski for a momentous gathering to release the Kenya Youth Manifesto 2022. Forty (40) young leaders - selected from all corners of our republic- came together and collaborated on crafting this document which contains 40 key points discussing how they can make their voices heard in society today.
The Youth Cafe is thrilled to partner with the Go Youth and supports disseminating the Go Youth! Open Call to its networks, given its work in youth innovation. The Go Youth! Global Open Call 2022 is a crowdsourcing open call for Youth Voices on Health Innovation. This open call strongly focuses on supporting social innovation in health research; therefore, ideas with evidence on pilot or early-stage implementation are preferred. Are you a youth (18 to 35) interested in youth-led social innovation in health initiatives worldwide? We search for youth-led health innovations to receive seed research funding, mentorship and support, networking opportunities, and international recognition.
The Kenya Youth Manifesto 2022 made it possible for young people's voices to be heard. This was done by opening up an opportunity for youth jurors who spent a day determining the importance of this manifesto in relation to the future Kenyan population on the 21st of April, 2022 at Golden Tulip Hotel in Westlands, Nairobi. The question throughout the day left juror hungry and anticipating - what is this country going to look like when these youngsters take over?
The United States Library of Congress has selected The Youth Cafés' website for inclusion in the Kenyan Presidential Election 2022 Web Archive, which is part of a larger collection of historically and culturally significant websites that have been designated for preservation. The Library hopes that The Youth Café shares the Library's vision of preserving digital content and making it available to current and future generations of researchers. The Library of Congress believes that expanding access to the Library's collections is one of the best ways to increase opportunities for education and scholarship worldwide.
Working towards achieving this vision, The Youth Café, in partnership with Indonesian Youth Foundation, is organizing a youth virtual cultural exchange intended to be an event where Kenyan and Indonesian youth between the ages of 16 and 35 engage and network and build linkages. The workshop will open up the world to the wide diversity and richness of Indonesian and Kenyan culture, a fascinating tale of two countries waiting to happen. Kenyan and Indonesian youth will be able to showcase their talents and the rich diversity of their cultures in food, language, traditions, and fashion.
